Tying a Windsor Knot
Th Windsor knot is generally a wider tie knot, so it will look great on collars that have more of a spread. The knot is symmetrical and has a triangular shape to it. Experiment with different ties, as a wider one will work better than a narrow tie for this knot.
By following a few simple steps, tying a Windsor knot can easily be done. People all learn in different ways. For some people, reading instructions is best. Others needs to see the procedure while others can only get the process by watching another individual and physically trying the steps at the same time. Regardless of how one learns best, more practice is always better.
As with most knots, the first step would be to have the wide end of the tie on the right side of the body. This should be approximately one foot below the narrow end that is positioned on the left.
You should then cross the wide end over top the narrow part. The wide end of the tie then gets fed up through the loop that was created between the tie and your collar. Next, pull the wide end down.
The wide end of the tie then gets pulled underneath the narrow side and to the right of your body. This then goes back into and through the loop and goes to the right side again. At this point, the wide end has the inside facing outwards.
Next, the wide end of the tie comes across your body from the right to the left and you should pull the wide end back through the loop.
The final step is to bring the wide end through the knot and carefully tighten things up and pull the knot to the collar.
With some practice, this wide and professional looking knot is easy to master.
